Cuatro Limones (Four Lemons)
I don't know what is happening to me, these last months. I feel like blowing my mind. Very creative, thanks God.
I feel (with due respect) something like this:
Jimi Hendrix, by Moebius
(BTW, I have always wondered what's on that soup!!! ;)
I use to take some written notes or simply sketch something briefly in my old notebook. Just to catch the ideas that visit my crazy mind... And then I put them all in a looooong loooooong queue....
And as time goes by, I can say I don't care at all about style. Gerhard Richter, one of my most favourites artists, says something like style is violent, and I am not violent.
So his work is not attached to that dictatorship which is (in my opinion) smashing and killing a lot of artists.
Style can be, also, fear of changes. But, please, never mistake style with personality. They are two different things.
I prefer to be more and more unpredictable. I prefer let the life finds its way. I prefer the works to talk, not the "artist" behind them, as a crazy ventriloquist using the voice of the style, easily recognozible by his audience... If you are truthful and honest, and if you have a real inner world, it will work anyway. Ok, going back to my work, I feel so very comfortable inventing and creating things that they never existed before, as you know.... But I never forget Mother Nature. She is the real Kung Fu Master of every single artist. So I keep turning looking inwards and looking outwards... I think it's healthier than doing only just one of those things. My proposal for this week is very summery, now that we are getting glimpses from the extreme heat of the future summer (I live in one of the hottest places in Spain) And what's better for fighting these summer days than a juicy, delicious and refreshing lemonade???? So this is my today's subject. Four lemons perfectly set in a white dish with a tiny red line all around, over a dark background. They are ready to be sacrified before this summer solstice ;)
Cuatro Limones (Four Lemons)
Lemons from the fertile region of Murcia, healthy and full of life, ready to be squeezed till the last drop. Personally I am very glad with the result. I think it looks like (a bit) Zurbarán.
Oh, my God!!! Maybe I have a baroque soul!!! Am I becoming a Murcian???!!!
Procedural Lemons. Texture settings
Here you have the clay render, so you can see everything is a fake ;)
Cuatro Limones (Four Lemons). Clay render
Well, I can tell you that the hardest thing, for me, has been creating the texture. I told myself to create it in a pure procedural way, which was a complex challenge, for me. Me, a complete dumb a few months ago about procedural textures and Blender node system. Literally: I was on panic only to think I had to face them.
Now I'm beginning to see the posibilities, the almost infinite posibilities, to create textures just with the procedural way (and saving RAM memory, BTW).
So you can take a look at it by clicking here. You can use it for your own works. Of course, you can even improve it. I would be glad to see results. Only in the green color I used a texture map, because I wanted a total precision to put the green stains in the lemons. So I had to paint them manually. Everything as usual in my workflow: Blender-ZBrush-Cycles Health and Love for everyone!!! Ps: I'm going to prepare my lemonade RIGHT NOW!!!
